March 14, 2011

Hi Folks!

The snow is almost completely melted and warm days are certainly in our future.

Our minds will quickly be turning to walking the course and playing golf!

Historically, the greens have been open for play, at the latest date of Good Friday.  We like to have rolled and mown the greens several times before allowing play.  The rolling, mowing process helps to firm the surface and the opportunity to roll & mow means to us that the areas are ready to accept foot traffic. Until one sees hole locations and pins in the greens, please play to the temporary holes in each approach.

We have had a great winter for the golf course.  Snow cover, moderate winds and a phenomenal fall cleanup effort have provided a golf course that looks ready to go.  The one area I've seen damage has been in the pond.  The prolonged ice & snow cover has led to a fish kill.  After speaking with our fish nurseryman, it sounds like we are not alone with this event.  We will be stocking the ponds with additional fish and feeding those that survived with minnows.

Feel free to enjoy the course and a warm day.
